Just read on FaceBook:

Running is the only time my mind is quiet. Probably because I'm focusing on not falling down.

This is me.  But maybe that is what makes it so meditative.

“If one could run without getting tired I don't think one would often want to do anything else.” — C.S. Lewis

I know I'll be sorry for wishing this, but I'm ready for cooler weather.

gratitude

I have got to remember this!

Don't just become vegan.  Be a whole food plant based vegan. I'm a work in progress.

Looking closely at the picture on the right, I only have tofu so I'm doing pretty good. And tofu isn't all that processed.

Today's Hike, Elk Meadow Park, 5 miles

No bears this trip, but we saw an elk.

There were entire meadows of this wild bergamot (bee balm, or monarda) which smelled amazing.

PS, this pic was taken a week ago at the Donor Dash 5k.  Ligi and I ran together.
Remember to sign up to be an organ donor.

The most powerful strategy for healing people and the planet:

A TEDxTalk by Dr. Michael Klaper, one of the lifestyle medicine greats.  He now travels the country teaching docs at medical schools as that is where the need is greatest.

Good quote read on FB today:

White people use the Bible to justify their racism.
Problem is, there are no white people in the Bible.

Run the mile you're in......Ryan Hall

This is my mantra for today when I would prefer to sleep in, read, and do nothing.  But I doubled up on coffee and am up and moving.  Have a great day.

Dietary Strategies to keep cancer at bay......

As you probably know by now I follow nutritional research pretty closely.  Here is an excellent YouTube video on dietary strategies to keep cancer at bay by Dr Irminne Van Dyken.  I've heard her speak elsewhere and she does an excellent job at explaining it all.  It is an hour long video, FYI, but worth your time.

Sorry no editing software, but here are 2 pics of a scared little bear that tore across the road in front of us and scrambled rapidly up the rocks on the roadside.  Today was a hiking day.

One more group pic from yesterday's run....probably my favorite.

Jen and I ran together the whole race.

I kind of look like a runner.

We are all Wonder Women

It was a beautiful morning but got warm very quickly, although only in the 80s by the last half.  It will get to the upper 90s later today.  80s are too warm for me!

Awesome medal, too
(Update, it was hot, I was slow, it was a small race, but I came in 1 of 4 in my age group!  No award for that but personal satisfaction.  I feel better about being hot and slow now, and will run it again next year if it is offered).

Wonder Woman is not a fictional character. Wonder Woman is a mindset.

From the expo for tomorrow's Wonder Woman 10 k......It was so freakin' hot downtown. Of course Wonder Woman herself looks cool as a cucumber.

This picture is from this morning's run/walk group.  It was already warm out, but we were serenaded by bagpipes from the nearby Irish festival.

                          and for nothing but money.

Speaking of dogs, I took mine out to the yard first thing this morning as always.  Upon returning to the house I discovered my slippers and ankles were crawling with ants.  I may have nightmares.

Being on the right side of history

I went to this event last night.  It was an amazing celebration of love, respect, and acceptance for all. There were 4 elementary age performers, the youngest maybe six years old; several teens, and a few adults. Anyone who wanted could perform.  At intermission all children wanting to participate gathered on the stage to strut their stuff across it.....there were at least 30 of them...for a big crowd of families and supporters.
There was, of course,  a contingent of stupid white-supremacist protesters/haters out front attempting to block the street, and a large police presence to keep everyone safe. There were approximately 30 volunteers called the Parasol Brigade twirling colorful umbrellas lining the street to show the way and to accompany guests.  It was so well organized.  I will go again if only to show up the stupid hate-mongers.  It feels so good to be on the right side of history.
Do you remember the song San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in your Hair) by Scott McKenzie?  There is a line: "you're going to meet some gentle people there." It was like that.
And the venue...wow...a warehouse of comic books and superhero-themed merchandise.

Pictures from last night, found and shared from FB
