“It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It's what we do consistently.” ― Anthony Robbins

Here is my Amerithon, virtual run/walk update.  I'm finding that consistency is the key to everything.

On 10-30-16 I got this badge.

11-8-16 I reached this milestone (512.4 walked miles, 838.1 running miles).  I am leaving Gunnison, CO, and heading into the Sawatch Range. 2176 miles to go!

I'm really enjoying this scarily climate-changed warm weather. I know autumn will arrive eventually....maybe.  Possibly we'll even eventually get some moisture here in the Front Range after so many months without.
I've been loving pumpkin season.  I made pumpkin seed butter (tastes great, but you will get sick if you eat much at a time...look it up), pumpkin roasted red pepper hummus, pumpkin coconut curry, pumpkin chickpea stew, and pumpkin polenta.  Of course I roast all the pumpkin seeds and devour them as well. Next, on to stuffed squash.  I love to cook and try new things seasonally, if you couldn't tell.

A quote worth repeating today:
"Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard."
H. L. Mencken

I am rejoining the ACLU.  I hadn't been a member since George W. was president.  Our constitutional rights have never been in such peril!

I just finished reading "Fahrenheit 451," a classic novel by Ray Bradbury. I hope it was just a coincidence that I happened to read it now, and not a foreshadowing of things to come.  If not,  I love you, family.

At least I live in the right state, if not the right country. Grandchildren, I am so very sorry about the world we are leaving for you.

I need a good long run today and maybe everyday for a while to come to terms with how low this country has fallen. We have lost the world's respect, and deservedly so.
