Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live.----Jim Rohn

        I heard this on YouTube today, it is simplistic but makes sense:

    We like to think of ourselves as a body.  We're not.  We're a community of cells.
    There really is only one disease, and that is a cell that is not working properly.
    There are only two things you have to do for health----deliver the groceries and not deliver toxins.  That way you can keep the repair machinery functioning properly. Your body will do the repairs.

"The body is a community made up of its innumerable cells or inhabitants."----Thomas Edison

"We are all cells in the same body of humanity." ---Peace Pilgrim

“The future says:

Dear mortals;
I know you are busy with your colourful lives;
I have no wish to waste the little time that remains
On arguments and heated debates;
But before I can appear
Please, close your eyes, sit still
And listen carefully
To what I am about to say;
I haven't happened yet, but I will.
I can't pretend it's going to be
Business as usual.
Things are going to change.
I'm going to be unrecognisable.
Please, don't open your eyes, not yet.
I'm not trying to frighten you.
All I ask is that you think of me
Not as a wish or a nightmare, but as a story
You have to tell yourselves -
Not with an ending
In which everyone lives happily ever after,
Or a B-movie apocalypse,
But maybe starting with the line
'To be continued...'
And see what happens next.
Remember this; I am not
Written in stone
But in time -
So please don't shrug and say
What can we do?
It's too late, etc, etc, etc.
Dear mortals,
You are such strange creatures
With your greed and your kindness,
And your hearts like broken toys;
You carry fear with you everywhere
Like a tiny god
In its box of shadows.
You love festivals and music
And good food.
You lie to yourselves
Because you're afraid of the dark.
But the truth is: you are in my hands
And I am in yours.
We are in this together,
Face to face and eye to eye;
We're made for each other.
Now those of you who are still here;
Open your eyes and tell me what you see.”

Keep trying

Never forget

Every animal has his or her story, his or her thoughts, daydreams, and interests. All feel joy and love, pain and fear, as we now know beyond any shadow of a doubt. All deserve that the human animal afford them the respect of being cared for with great consideration for those interests or left in peace. Ingrid Newkirk

    Fox vs dog face-off this morning. You've gotta love autumn walks. We left it in peace, although I had to bodily haul my dog away.

Shares for today:

     I voted last night.  We have mail-in ballots, but there were so many amendments and issues to research, it took 2-3 hours of  "homework" to complete. Done.

Look at dem legs song

I love this.  I've never been proud of my legs, but they are truly fantastic and accomplish awesome things.

Denver Rock and Roll run weekend

     This weekend I ended my running season with the Denver Rock and Roll races.  Saturday was the 5k.  Sunday was the half.  There was a 3rd medal earned for completing both, and of course I do it for the bling. ☺

     My results were satisfactory.  I am mainly interested in how I do compared with other women in the 65-69 age group.  For the 5k I was 3 out of 10.  For the half I was 8 out of 24. So I'm not the best, but not the worst, either.  I must keep working at this.
     In the half, there were 17 women in the 70-74 year-old group, 2 of which  were faster than me.  There was one woman in the 80+ age group.  There are so many inspiring people out there!
      I did pass barefoot Elvis, though.

This is so true today and needs repeating.

“Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth.” ― Henry David Thoreau, Walden

     I'm trying.  I try to believe this every year.  It is so cold and snowy.  It seems like we only get 2 seasons here.....summer and winter.....and I want to experience some autumns, some springs. It is just some early season cabin fever, I imagine, and will pass when we get some sunshine. Meanwhile, I am trapped in a snow-globe.

The hardest part of being vegan is waking up at 5 a.m. to milk all the almonds.

I love this quote.

People are watching.

"One reason I do hard things is because I want to raise amazing human beings who are going to grow up and make this world a better place.  I want to be able to inspire my kids and, in order to do that, I have to be the strongest version of me.  I can't allow other activities to take me away from what's important."

“Adapt or perish, now as ever, is nature's inexorable imperative.” ― H.G. Wells

    This is the final call to prevent climate catastrophe.

    Climate change is so much worse than we thought. We have only 12 years to make massive changes.  What are you doing today to save the lives of your children and grandchildren?
     Are you vegan yet?  Animal agriculture is the leading cause of human-made greenhouse gas emissions, and is the leading cause of deforestation, air and water pollution, and biodiversity loss. Avoiding all animal products is the single biggest thing you can do to reduce your impact on earth now.
     Do something.  Please.

“Change before you have to.”

― Jack Welch

(oops, too late, now you have to)

     Even if you don't think climate change is our fault, not doing something about it is our fault.  Of course the earth will go on without humans on it, and will be better off, but I don't want to see that happen.

"You are the average of the 5 people you spend most of your time with"

     I'm so glad to read this.  My friends and family are awesome.

If I'm the smartest guy (gal)
in the room, I'm in the wrong room.

Early happy birthday to Kate.

          I hope this brings back fond memories of you and your Dad. He loved this because it reminded him of you.

     I have a very long drive alone tomorrow to a place I've never been.  I have a fear of driving by myself to strange areas.....not knowing where gas stations and rest stops might be, possibly getting lost (a very real possibility with me even with phone gps).  But I can and will do this. Deep breaths.

Life is for participating, not for spectating.
