I have a family member who recently suffered from a burst appendix, but was fortunate enough to avoid surgery. He was treated with antibiotics and appears to be healing well. Here is a recent Swedish study which showed that most cases of appendicitis, all but the most severe, can be successfully treated with antibiotics, avoiding surgery. I found this interesting.

So why not start now? Why wait until 2050 when disaster forces the issue? Onegreenplanet.com has a good article with reasons to go vegan now.
