I earned my comma

Today was day 1,000 for my run streak....I've run at least a mile every day for 1,000 days!

Exercise can slow aging by 9 years...

Just a reminder to self to keep at it!

Make it happen.  No excuses.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
“True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost. ”

– Arthur Ashe

The Bolder Boulder was remarkable, as always, and extremely well organized.  It is basically a big party through the neighborhoods of Boulder, CO, followed by an elite race with runners from all over the world and a very solemn Memorial Day ceremony.
The Boulderites really get involved.  There are slip n slides set out on lawns, sprinklers for the overheated runners to run through, one family set up their 4 foot pool in their driveway for runners (no diving) and bands every few blocks.  There are belly dancers,  (most amusingly of a very mature age), bag-pipers, and residents handing out snacks. There are runners in  all types of costumes...can you imagine running the entire race dressed as a huge t-rex or a big can of beer? Also, there was lots of red, white, and blue, and military troops.
They divide the 54000 runners into multiple start corrals, so the race continues for almost 6 hours. There are thousands of walkers, and multi-generational families, as well. I got to see a 12 month old toddle across her first Bolder Boulder finish line after multiple falls as she rounded the track inside Folsom Field at CU.
There was a swearing-in ceremony for enlistees in all branches of service.  A Medal of Honor ceremony.  A 95ish year old Battle of the Bulge survivor played the Star Spangled Banner on his trumpet for the 3rd year followed by a multi-jet flyover.  My absolute favorite are the sky-divers with flags from each branch of service, POWs, and the US flag which end the day.

The fun and the serious

The fun.....today friends and I are attending a free "Barre, bras, and bubbly" class sponsored by Brooks running.  It should be interesting as I am not built like a ballerina in the least.  I will probably spend much of the 2 hours in the back with whatever "bubbly" is provided....also fun...LOL.

The serious....tomorrow I am running the Bolder Boulder 10K, which is a huge Memorial Day remembrance event (54,000 people), held in Boulder every year.  This year I will be running my miles in remembrance of Rylie Guentensburger, a 12 year-old girl who recently died after being struck by a car that slammed through a running store in Parker, CO.

Update from the Barre class this morning....it was difficult but I finished.  A free Mimosa for breakfast is a-ok. I was good, though, and skipped the chocolate chip croissant.

How Europe views 45 and now America

http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/5/26/1666273/-German-newspaper-rips-Trump-calling-him-unfit-and-a-danger-to-the-world

The 5th solution they offer to rid the world of 45 is below.  If  the gop thirst for power won't accomplish impeachment, the world will act.
"Fifth: the international community wakes up and finds a way to circumvent the White House and free itself of its dependence on the U.S."

"I have come to a conclusion that one useless man is a shame, two is a law firm, and three or more is a congress." - John Adams

45's budget cut proposals.....

A 13.5% cut to education????  Our children are our future. America will fall so far behind developed countries.   Maybe if we concentrated on making all American's strong and educated, rather that making 45 and his cronies rich, things could turn around.  We're in this disaster together, folks.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/23/politics/trump-budget-cuts-programs/

We will soon have no allies left.  Great Britain and Israel won't share all of their intelligence info with us any longer.  Did you see 45 shove the PM of Montenegro out of the way today so he could be in front?  Then he scolded our NATO allies in a speech. He and his entire admin. are such an embarrassment.
And poverty is only a state of mind in the deluded mind of Ben Carson.

I love May flowers.....peonies

You've gotta love Colorado.  Every year.....no lilacs, no ornamental pear tree blooms, no crab apple tree blooms, no peonies.  They are pretty in their own crushed monochromatic way.,,,survival of the fittest.
     The iris are cute, though.

Day one of a two-day snowstorm....
This isn't a tree branch at the top of the photo....it is the central trunk of a tall tree.  I am expecting many more broken trees from this heavy wet late snow. And today is HS graduation day for high schools in my area.

"It is legal because I wish it."......Louis XIV

Sound like anyone we are stuck with?

There is a documentary called "The Dubious Friends of Donald Trump---part 1, Russia."  It is from the Netherlands and is about Trump's ties to the Russian mafia.  It is available on YouTube.  It is chilling.

In case you missed it....the Dakota Access Pipeline has already leaked, and it isn't even fully operational yet.

A great article on starches

Sally Yates

Did you watch Sally Yates' testimony in front of congress yesterday?  She was amazing in defending the constitution against the gop.  We need more people like her, especially as president.

Wonder Woman is in theaters June 2nd. But if you want a sneak preview, watch Sally Yates' performance in front of the Senate.

http://www.gopocalypse.org/list-who-voted-your-healthcare-away-by-state/

Hospitals, doctors, insurers, and consumer watchdog organizations are all criticizing the republican healthcare bill.  Of course, the congress is exempting itself  from this insurance. Most gop house members admit to not even reading the bill, which they rushed through, before the vote.

Just so we are crystal clear: people with pre-existing mental health conditions have access to firearms, but not health insurance.

It is very interesting to learn that combining meat with a carb will exacerbate the insulin spike in your blood, which is the opposite of what you would expect or want.  Plant proteins do the opposite, probably because plant foods contain anti-oxidants and animal foods have none.
