3 days and still snowing....

“All Heaven and Earth
Flowered white obliterate...
Snow...unceasing snow”
― HashinJapanese Haiku

I have friends running a trail race in this today.  I wish them luck, and am glad it is not me.  I would have been a no-show.

I am getting tired of my house smelling like wet-dog!

I'm home

I'm back after a wonderful trip to Illinois to visit family!  It was perfect; plus the weather there was warm with trees and flowers blooming.  I'm back to cold and chilly.
I am following a runner who is attempting to break the trans-continental record.  She hopes to run 3100 miles in less than 46 days, 8 hours, and 36 minutes.  This means she will have to average 66 miles every day.  What an amazing venture.  She is raising money for families of children diagnosed with cancer.

(I really need to mow my lawn.....if it would ever stop snowing!)

2016 ALREADY shows record global temps.....

and we are only 3 months in.

I am going on a trip tomorrow, and am scheduled for the 1st flight out.  I just realized that I must leave for the airport no later than 3 AM.  What was I thinking?

I've probably posted this before, but it makes me laugh every time.  Enjoy.

Today is a much nicer day.  It is always a good day when the sun is out. Maybe we will get a few days of spring before summer hits.

It's about time

A Maine Medical School is starting a 2 year plant-based medical residency.  How great is this?  Most medical schools don't even offer any nutrition classes at all to their students.  Change has begun.
First Kaiser Permanente has their doctors recommending a plant-based diet to all patients.  Then an all plant-based hospital opened in DC last year.  Now this. Many hundreds of thousands of lives can be saved.

(On a local note, it is snowing again)

Here is my finish line photo from the Platte River Half on 4-10.  It isn't as horrible as most of my running photos.

Boston Strong

Watching the Boston Marathon live at http://watchlive.baa.org/.  Their weather looks perfect.

Still cold, cloudy, with chances of more snow for the next two days here.  I'll have to hit up the treadmill this afternoon.

Still snowing hard....

What I woke to this morning...this shows one of the fractured branches, this one in my blooming crab apple tree.

More running humor....

The Boston marathon is on Monday, 4-18.

It looks like I'll be home to watch.  We have 2+ feet of snow on the ground this morning with another 2-4 inches coming today, so I won't be going anywhere.  I also have downed tree limbs with this storm again!
     Spring....please come soon.

Bye Collette, We will miss you!

My friend Collette is moving away!  Today will be her last time at the Saturday morning run.  Wouldn't you know there would be a major snow storm!
Discretion being the better part of valor, I am going to miss it, but I will somehow see her before she leaves.
I'll be reading a book today and drinking tea to stay warm, instead.

Motivational quote of the day

Earlier this week I went to a prayer service for a friend with cancer of the brain.  At least we are not doing the hike alone.  We are all making this journey together.

Spring in Colorado---all kinds of things are sprouting in my yard.

The ornamental pears are starting to bloom, crab-apple trees are budding, and MAJOR snow is predicted for the weekend.  It never fails!

It's all about that bling.

Still waiting for official results, they had problems with the timing mats at the start not functioning.  But I finished.  The race mostly followed a bike path along the South Platte river from Littleton to the Buckhorn Restaurant.  I don't enjoy running 13.1 miles on concrete!  Pavement is so much more cushioned, believe it or not.  This is a great training race, though....easy to get to, great bling, food, beer, and music at the finish.  It was a chilly, windy damp day....perfect for running but too cold to hang around and party after.

A friend and I pre-race, I'm in the pink hat

Bling--medal, bottle opener, pint glass, and shirt

My Grandkids on the far left and far right, ran a 10K in Austin yesterday with 80 of their middle-school classmates!

My speedy-runner daughter-in law on the left at the 10K in Austin where she met another run 2016 in 2016 runner.

I wish I could be speedy like them.

Too true!

It's baseball season. Classic humor for your weekend.
