Happy Summer Solstice everyone! Ironically, we are getting a much-welcomed break from the sizzling temps on this first day of summer. Don't you love these summer evenings? Once the sun dips behind the hills it is so pleasant to venture out and walk barefooted in the grass, to visit with neighbors never seen in the winter months who are out watering flowers, and neighborhood kids playing volleyball. The light seemingly lasts forever.

Update: The High Park Fire is now at 65738 acres and is 55% contained. The newer Springer Fire has grown to 1100 acres. We could really use some rain.
News: Biotech giant Syngenta has been criminally charged for denying knowledge that its genetically modified Bt corn kills livestock.

The AMA has stated that they would like to see genetically modified foods "go through a mandatory pre-market safety approval process." I still find it hard to fathom that these products are allowed on the market without human safety studies having been done. GMO food producers must know that there are hazards of ingestion involved, or they wouldn't be fighting against having GMO labels attached. You always have to question businesses that fight against transparency; you must wonder what they are hiding.

We are loving the fruits of summer....mmmm, blueberries, strawberries, cherries.
