Dogs get a runner's high, too, but as in people, walking does not have the same effect. Take your dog with you when you run.

I just learned of an interesting topic: gluten and leptin resistance. This info has been around for a while and I first read about it last night. I'll have to do more research. Meanwhile, you can do a google search or pubmed search on gluten and leptin resistance.
